JAM’S BOND BALL RAISES £30,000 FOR LOCAL CHARITY MANCHESTER KIDS

Duerr’s Jam’s Bond Ball had a license to thrill on Saturday 8 November at Mere Golf and Country Club, which saw £30,000 being raised for charity.

With over 350 people attending and record spending, the ball was a complete success.

The annual ball, which is in its fifth year, was organised and sponsored by UK’s oldest remaining family owned preserves manufacturer F Duerr and Sons Ltd. The guests were asked to theme themselves in James Bond with a splash of gold. There were a variety of outfits from Pussy Galore, to Jaws, Goldfinger, the Voodoo Henchman and Duerr’s marketing director, Richard Duerr as Bloefield complete with motorised wheelchair and infamous white cat!

The evening started with vodka martini cocktails, shaken not stirred, followed by a four course dinner then an evening that was ‘jam’ packed with entertainment including dancers from Oldham Hulme Grammar School with movements to Bond classics, casino tables and the best dressed Bond competition which put the ball in high spirits and good stead. The night also saw an auction for holidays to Florida and Lanzarote, a Ferrari for a day, golf weekends, football and pop music tickets.

All proceeds from the evening will go to Duerr’s nominated charity for 2003, Manchester Kids.

Manchester Kids is the registered charity of Key 103 and Magic 1152, which aims to help make a difference to children all over Great Manchester. The charity focuses primarily on recreation facilities in areas of urban deprivation and on children who are living in poverty or suffering abuse or distress. Comperes for the evening were Key 103’s DJ’s Mike Toolan and Darren Proctor.

Managing director Mark Duerr commented: “It was an absolutely fantastic evening. Many people had made such an incredible effort to get into the party spirit and we are delighted to have raised so much money for such a worthy cause.”
