Duerr’s spreads its community support with donation to local school

England’s oldest family-owned jam maker, Duerr’s, has donated hundreds of jars of preserves and £1,000 to Crossacres Primary Academy to support the running of its breakfast club.

The Manchester-based manufacturer has donated more than 200 jars of its jams and marmalades to help feed the vast numbers of children that attend breakfast club each day.

The monetary donation will go towards supporting disadvantaged families within the school, allowing them free access to the breakfast club for the full school year.

The support offered by Duerr’s is part of a wider community initiative run through the newly launched Duerr’s Foundation, which aims to provide product and monetary donations to local schools across Wythenshawe throughout 2019 and into 2020.

Richard Duerr, sales and marketing director of F. Duerr & Sons said:

“We know how important a good breakfast is, so we are thrilled to be able to give the children in breakfast club a great start to the day with our jams and marmalades. Also, to know that our monetary donation will go directly towards helping families that wouldn’t normally have access to the breakfast club is fantastic.’’

Suzanne Blay, headteacher at Crossacres Primary Academy said:

“We’re delighted with the donations from Duerr’s. Our breakfast club is a vital resource for students as it sets them up for the school day, so any support we receive to help keep the club running is hugely welcome.’’

Duerr’s has been producing high-quality and innovative jams, marmalades, sweet spreads and condiments from Manchester for over 135 years.
