On this day…

On this day in 1766, Josiah Wedgwood’s cream coloured earthenware earned Royal approval. This ‘Queen’s Ware’ established his fame, earning him the title of ‘Father of English Potters’ and grew his fortunes.

And it’s not just pottery, as coveted now as in 1766 that we can thank him for; Wedgwood was a marketing genius and pioneered early versions of self service, direct mail, money-back guarantees, illustrated catalogues and BOGOF offers!
