The World’s First Municipal Park

Proud to Be British

Britain, and more specifically Birkenhead, was the location of the very first municipal park opened April 5th 1847. The park in Merseyside was designed by Sir Joseph Paxton and is said to be the inspiration for many features of New York’s Central Park.
